ELECTION OF NEW EXCO FOR PMAN FCT CHAPTER SET TO TAKE PLACE WITH TWO FRONT RUNNERS
By Ifeoluwa Sunday
On September 12, the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) FCT chapter will hold an election for a new executive committee. This election marks the first of its kind in a long time for the association. The two main candidates vying for the position of governor are Romeo Terhile and Sydney Sparrow.
Romeo Terhile Nyamatsa, hailing from Benue, is the CEO of Frontline14 Entertainment, an indigenous entertainment company. Alongside his running mate, Chinyere Emehelu, Romeo is committed to transforming the FCT chapter of PMAN if elected as governor. Their aim is to create a sustainable PMAN chapter that caters to the needs of all individuals involved in the FCT music constituency. Part of their manifesto includes establishing a central PMAN secretariat to manage the interests of the music community in the Federal Capital City. They also hope to encourage non-registered PMAN members whose primary constituency is music to make use of the governance structures within PMAN to achieve their musical aspirations.
Sparrow, the other front runner, is an active member of the showbiz industry and specializes in live bands. He is also involved in music and movie production. One of his main areas of focus, if elected, is the establishment of a PMAN FCT secretariat. Sparrow notes that PMAN has been without an official functional space for over 20 years, hindering the convergence of artists and the holding of meetings.
Analysts predict that the upcoming election will be fiercely contested due to the significant interest it has generated. The result of this election will determine the new leadership and direction of PMAN FCT Chapter, shaping the future of the music industry in the Federal Capital Territory.
